Dell poweredge installation and server management cd iso
So I am now stuck on how to get Server to work on my Am I going to have to fork out for new servers, or is there any other way to get it to work? Easy way round it is to get a copy of the free Xenserver and virtualise your installation which will work fine. You could probably get a VMware product to work also but I have no experience of it.
Hyper V your back at the same windows driver issue unless you use an old version. The Windows server had all the correct drivers. It has been working fine for a month. We have an old in a pile in our lab, and we did some testing on it and the one quirk we had is that if more than 1 drive was allocated setup would see none. If you had just one Virtual drive allocated raid 1 pair was the only disk initialized and allocated setup would see it just fine.
We did have to let the raid controller do a full initialization and finish it before would see it. You probably have sorted this now, but I will post this because I too spent ages looking for the answer. Yeah after pulling my hair out too done what Xandriel said and worked a treat with Hyper-v Core.
I see the loading files then after that I see a blue windows logo and immediately get an error with about lines flash on my screen, then the server reboots. I have cleared the raid drives, rebuilt and then initialized with no change in the above error.
I have the identical issue as RREndon once, setup has loaded files it will flash with a few lines on screen and then reboot instantly, no chance to see what it says. Quick note - as I've seen a few people struggle with this:I was able to install Windows Server on my PE with a USB stick containing the RAID driver Server X64 version from the Dell website , so that at the point in the install wizard where it tries to list hard disks for you to partition etc.
Windows Server R2 gets into a boot-loop. The system would start to boot the installer from the Server R2 DVD, get to the point where the blue flag appears for about seconds, screen goes black and 4 or 5 lines of info flash up too quick read. The server automatically reboots and loops again with precisely the same behaviour. I'm just installing Windows for the moment and once on I'll then update to R2 manually - hope this helps anyone else in this situation.
To pick up where Roy left off, R2 still gets stuck in boot loop after upgrading from to R2 manually within Windows. This works, I asked the same question about the the other day.
